§ 33002 Governor Fills Senate-Confirmed Vacancies

Key Takeaways

  • •If a government job is empty, the Governor picks someone to fill it.
  • •The Senate has to agree with the Governor's pick by at least two-thirds.
  • •The person picked only stays in the job until the next election for that job.

Example

Imagine the person in charge of schools in your state quits before their job is done.

The Governor picks someone new for the job, but the Senate has to say yes. If they do, the new person only stays until the next time people vote for that job.
