§ 27408 Nonparticipant Spouse Firearm Rights

Key Takeaways

  • •If you're married to someone in a special work program (like police or firefighters), some rules about their work benefits also apply to you.
  • •You can't get extra benefits just because you're married to them—only what the law clearly says you can get.
  • •The rules are the same for husbands and wives in this situation.

Example

A firefighter gets hurt at work and gets money for medical bills. Their spouse wonders if they can also get some of that money.

The law says the spouse can get some benefits, but only the ones listed in other parts of the law—nothing extra. So if the law says spouses get help with medical bills, they do, but they can’t ask for more just because they’re married.
