§ 21189 Notice Hearing Procedures

Key Takeaways

  • •The court sets a date for a hearing about a petition.
  • •The court must post a notice about the hearing in at least three public places in the county.
  • •The court must also give a copy of the notice and petition to the founder (if alive), their spouse, and anyone who gave money or gifts mentioned in the petition.
  • •All this must happen at least 10 days before the hearing.

Example

A group wants to change how a local park, donated by a family, is used.

The court will set a hearing date and post notices about it around town. They’ll also send a copy of the notice to the family who donated the park and anyone else who gave money for it. This gives everyone time to know about the hearing and show up if they want.
