§ 19430 Board Meeting Quorum Rules

• •If a board has 3 people, at least 2 must be present to make decisions.
• •If a board has 5 people, at least 3 must be present to make decisions.
• •If not enough people show up, the board can't do its work.

A school board with 5 members wants to decide if they should buy new computers for the school.

At least 3 members of the board must be at the meeting to vote on buying the computers. If only 2 show up, they can't make the decision and have to wait for another meeting.
