§ 18139 School Library Withdrawal Procedures

Key Takeaways

  • •School districts can stop using the county's library services if the county board of education agrees.
  • •They can either stop all at once or slowly over up to 5 years.
  • •If they stop slowly, the county makes rules about how long it takes, how much to pay each year, and how much service they still get.

Example

A school district wants to run its own libraries instead of using the county's help.

The school district can talk to the county and decide to either stop using the county's library help right away or slowly over a few years. If they choose to stop slowly, the county will make rules about how much the school district pays each year and how much help they still get from the county.
