§ 1279 County School Property Disposal

This law says the county school boss can't sell or get rid of school stuff worth more than $25,000 without following special rules. For cheaper stuff, they just have to tell the school board about it every few months.

Key Takeaways

  • •If school stuff is worth more than $25,000, the boss has to follow special rules to sell or get rid of it.
  • •They need to get the stuff checked by an expert, put an ad in the newspaper, talk about it at a school board meeting, and get the board's okay.
  • •If the stuff is worth less than $25,000, the boss just has to tell the school board about it every few months.

Example

The school has old computers worth $30,000 they don't need anymore.

The school boss can't just sell them. They have to get the computers checked by someone who knows their value, put an ad in the local newspaper, talk about it at a school board meeting, and get the board to say it's okay.
