§ 17461 Lease Authority Delegation

Key Takeaways

  • •School boards can let a person in charge sign leases for school property if only one good offer is made at the usual price.
  • •If someone offers to let the school use their building or space for free, the school board can let a person in charge sign the deal.
  • •This is only for leases or deals that follow the rules already set by the school board.

Example

A local business offers to let the school use their empty building for free as a temporary classroom.

The school board can let the principal or another school leader sign the deal without needing a full board vote because the building is offered for free.
