§ 16721 Deduction School Apportionment Repayment

Key Takeaways

  • •The state takes back some money from schools to pay for old school building loans.
  • •They take the money in four equal parts from February to May.
  • •The money taken goes to a special fund, but then it just goes to the state's main money pot.

Example

Imagine your school gets $100 from the state every month. The state says, 'We gave you extra money to build a new classroom 10 years ago. Now you have to pay us back $40 this year.'

The state will take $10 from your school's money in February, $10 in March, $10 in April, and $10 in May. That $40 doesn’t go to build more schools—it just goes into the state’s big money pile.
