§ 16164 District Annexation Valuation Adjustment

This law says that when land moves from a non‑state‑aided school district to a state‑aided district, the land’s assessed value must be added to the state‑aided district’s total value for certain state calculations.

Key Takeaways

  • •If land is taken out of a non‑state‑aided district and added to a state‑aided district, its assessed value moves with it.
  • •That value is counted with the state‑aided district’s total when the state runs its funding formulas.
  • •The actual math (how the total is used) is found in Sections 16070‑16075, not in this section.

Example

A county moves a piece of land that used to belong to a non‑state‑aided school district into a neighboring state‑aided district.

The value of that land is now counted together with the rest of the state‑aided district’s property when the state does its required math (like figuring out funding).
