§ 11000 Academic Partnership Program Goals

This law creates the California Academic Partnership Program to help public high schools improve their teaching and better prepare students for college.

Key Takeaways

  • •The program is run by the CSU trustees together with UC, community colleges, and the state superintendent.
  • •Its goal is to raise the academic quality of public secondary schools and help students get ready for college.
  • •Funding can be used for projects that improve school curricula, and the projects must be spread across rural, urban, and suburban areas.

Example

A small rural high school gets a grant to redesign its math curriculum and train teachers, so students are better ready for college math classes.

Because the law sets up a program that funds projects to improve secondary school curriculum, the school can apply for money and support under this program.
