§ 1201 County Superintendent Travel Expenses

• •Travel costs are only covered if the board of supervisors approves the trip.
• •The trip must be to a convention or conference called by the State Board of Education, the Superintendent of Public Instruction, or the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges.
• •The rule also covers travel when the board gives the superintendent power to do work outside his county, whether in‑state or out‑of‑state.

The county superintendent is asked by the State Board of Education to attend a teacher‑training conference in San Diego. The board of supervisors signs off on the trip.

Because the board approved it and the meeting was called by the State Board of Education, the superintendent can be reimbursed for his travel expenses like airfare, hotel, and meals.
