§ 13293 District Director Removal Petition

This law says that if a group elects leaders by areas, people in that area can ask to remove a leader by getting 20% of the area's members to sign a paper. Then, a special meeting is held, and if most people in that area vote yes, the leader is removed.

Key Takeaways

  • •Only people in the same area can ask to remove their leader.
  • •They need 20% of the area’s members to sign a paper to start the process.
  • •A special meeting is held, and if more than half vote yes, the leader is removed.

Example

Imagine a big apartment building with different sections. Each section picks its own leader. If people in one section don’t like their leader, they can try to remove them.

They need to get 20% of the people in that section to sign a paper asking for the leader to be removed. Then, a special meeting is called, and if more than half of the people in that section vote yes, the leader is out.

How to Calculate

Number of signatures needed = 20% of members in the district

  1. Find out how many members live in the district.
  2. Calculate 20% of that number to know how many signatures are needed.

A district has 100 members.

Result: 20 signatures are needed to call for the removal of the director.
