§ 2104 Definitions Merchant Financing Agency

Key Takeaways

  • •A merchant is someone who sells goods or has special knowledge about them, like a store owner or someone who works with goods a lot.
  • •A financing agency is like a bank or a company that helps with money for buying or selling goods, like giving loans or handling payments.
  • •When both people in a deal are merchants, they are expected to know the rules and customs of buying and selling goods.

Example

You go to a car dealership to buy a car.

The car dealership is a merchant because they sell cars and know a lot about them. If you get a loan from a bank to buy the car, the bank is a financing agency because they are helping with the money part of the deal. Since both the dealership and the bank know the rules of buying and selling, they are expected to follow them.
