§ 2103 Definitions For Sales Contracts

This law spells out what words like “buyer,” “seller,” and “receipt of goods” mean so everyone knows the same thing when they read other parts of the law.

Key Takeaways

  • •A “buyer” is anyone who buys or promises to buy goods.
  • •A “seller” is anyone who sells or promises to sell goods.
  • •“Receipt of goods” means actually taking physical possession of the items.
  • •These definitions are used throughout the rest of the commercial law sections.

Example

You go to a store and buy a new TV and then take it home.

The law calls you the “buyer,” the store the “seller,” and when you bring the TV into your house you have made a “receipt of goods” – you’ve taken physical possession of it.
