§ 8410 Lien Enforcement Notice Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •You must tell the property owner you're working on their property before you can ask for payment later.
  • •If you don't give this notice, you can't force them to pay you using a lien.
  • •The notice must follow the rules in Chapter 2 of the law.

Example

A contractor fixes a roof but doesn't tell the homeowner they'll charge for it later.

If the contractor doesn't give the right notice first, they can't put a lien on the house to make the owner pay.
