§ 6620 Amending Community Declarations

Key Takeaways

  • •To change the rules of a community (like an HOA), everyone must be told about the change 15-60 days before voting.
  • •Most people in the community (or the number the rules say) must agree to the change.
  • •The change must be written down and signed by the leader of the group.
  • •The new rule must be officially recorded where the community is located.

Example

Your neighborhood wants to change a rule about pets.

They must tell everyone in the neighborhood about the new pet rule 15-60 days before asking for votes. If most people agree, the leader signs the new rule, and it gets recorded with the county.
