§ 5925 Dispute Resolution Definitions

Key Takeaways

  • •This law talks about solving problems without going to court. You can use mediation, arbitration, or other ways where a neutral person helps decide.
  • •The people involved must agree to use these methods, and they can choose if the decision is final or not.
  • •An 'enforcement action' is when someone takes legal steps to make sure this law, another specific law about nonprofit groups, or the group's own rules are followed.
  • •This law started in 2013 but didn't fully kick in until 2014.

Example

Imagine two neighbors arguing over a shared fence. Instead of going to court, they agree to let a neutral person (a mediator) help them figure it out.

This law says they can do that. They can pick someone to help solve the problem, and they can decide if the solution is final or not.
