§ 4790 Telephone Wiring Access Rights

Key Takeaways

  • •If you live in a shared building (like a condo), you can access common areas to fix or maintain your phone wires.
  • •You need permission from the building's management first, but they can't say no without a good reason.
  • •The management can set rules, like how the wires should look on the outside of the building.

Example

You live in a condo and your phone line is broken inside the hallway.

You can ask the condo management to let you fix it. They have to say yes unless they have a really good reason to say no. They might also tell you how to do it neatly so it doesn’t look messy.
