§ 4110 Nonprofit Community Service Definition

Key Takeaways

  • •A 'community service organization' is a nonprofit group that helps people in a neighborhood or the public, using shared spaces like parks or community centers.
  • •This group must actually provide services, not just collect money to give to other charities.
  • •If a group only raises money for housing charities, it doesn’t count as this type of organization.

Example

A group in your neighborhood collects money to give to a charity that builds homes for people in need.

This group is not considered a 'community service organization' under this law because it only raises money and doesn’t provide services directly.
