§ 8776 Licensee Reporting Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •If you're a licensed land surveyor, you must tell the board within 90 days if you get convicted of a serious crime or a crime related to your job.
  • •You must also report if you lose a big lawsuit (over $50,000 for settlements or $25,000 for judgments) because of mistakes, lies, or bad work as a surveyor.
  • •You have to sign the report and include details like court names, case numbers, and dates.
  • •If you don’t report these things on time, you could get in trouble with the board.

Example

A land surveyor makes a big mistake on a property line, and a court orders them to pay $30,000 to the client.

The surveyor must tell the board about this within 90 days because the judgment was over $25,000.
