§ 5251 Interstate Highway Right-Of-Way Rules

• •Old rules about interstate highways built after July 1, 1956, are still in effect.
• •These rules help California follow an agreement with the U.S. government.
• •The rules only apply to highways where the whole road area was bought after July 1, 1956.

If California built a new interstate highway in 1960 and bought all the land for it, the old rules from before 1967 still apply to that highway.

This means California must follow the old rules to keep its agreement with the U.S. government for that highway.
