§ 2450 Osteopathic Medical Board Authority

Key Takeaways

  • •There is a special group in California called the Osteopathic Medical Board that makes sure doctors who practice a certain type of medicine follow the rules.
  • •If a doctor chooses to use 'M.D.' instead of 'D.O.', they follow different rules and are checked by a different group called the Medical Board of California.
  • •The rules and jobs of the Osteopathic Medical Board can be checked and changed by the California government if needed.

Example

A doctor named Dr. Smith wants to use 'M.D.' after their name instead of 'D.O.'

If Dr. Smith decides to use 'M.D.', they will follow the rules set by the Medical Board of California, not the Osteopathic Medical Board. This means different people will check their work.
