§ 19829 Gambling Violation Reporting Requirement

Key Takeaways

  • •Police and prosecutors must tell the state about big gambling crimes they investigate.
  • •They have to share details even if the crime is small, like illegal card games or betting.
  • •The state decides what counts as a 'big' investigation.
  • •This helps the state track gambling crimes all over California.

Example

A police officer busts an illegal poker game in someone's garage where people are betting money.

The police have to report this to the state, even if it's just a small game, because gambling without a license is against the law. The state wants to know about all gambling crimes, big or small.
