§ 19822 Government Records For Investigations

Key Takeaways

  • •The government must share important files and records with the department if they are needed for an investigation.
  • •Tax information shared with the department can only be used for the investigation and nothing else.
  • •If the files or records are secret or private, sharing them with the department doesn’t make them public.
  • •The department must let the commission see all files and records about gambling anytime they want.

Example

If the police have records about a casino that the department is investigating, they must share those records.

The police have to give the department the records they need for their investigation. But if those records have secret tax info, the department can only use it for the investigation. Also, if the records are private, sharing them doesn’t make them public. The commission can check all the department’s gambling records whenever they want.
