§ 19576 Quarter Horse Race Recordings

Key Takeaways

  • •You can't share or sell recordings of quarter horse races in this state without permission from the race organizers, the horsemen's group, and the board.
  • •You can't use race recordings for things like video games or ads without getting the same permissions first.
  • •If someone breaks these rules, the people who should have given permission can go to court to stop them.

Example

A video game company wants to use real footage of a quarter horse race in their new racing game.

The company must first ask and get permission from the race organizers, the group representing the jockeys, and the board. If they don't, those groups can sue to stop the game from using the footage.
