§ 19493 License Fee Return After Racing

Key Takeaways

  • •If you pay the full fee for your horse racing license, you get your deposit back when the racing event ends.
  • •If you don’t pay the full fee, the unpaid amount is taken from your deposit, and you get back whatever is left.
  • •This rule makes sure the state gets the money it’s owed before giving back any extra.

Example

You apply for a horse racing license and pay a $1,000 deposit. The license fee is $800.

If you pay the $800 fee, you get your full $1,000 deposit back after the race. If you don’t pay the $800, the state keeps $800 from your deposit and gives you back $200.
