§ 19485 New Horse Racing Track Approval

Key Takeaways

  • •You can't build a new horse racing track without the board's permission.
  • •The board checks if the new track is good for the public before giving permission.
  • •This rule doesn't apply to small tracks (at least 5/8 mile) built inside bigger tracks (1 mile) if they're only for thoroughbred racing.

Example

Someone wants to build a new horse racing track in their town.

They must ask the board for permission first. The board will check if the track is good for the town before saying yes. If they build a small track inside a big one just for thoroughbred racing, they don’t need to ask.
