§ 12502 Commercial Scale Testing Requirements

Key Takeaways

  • •Scales or measuring tools that need to be put together after you buy them don’t have to be checked or stamped right away.
  • •But before you use them, they must be checked and stamped to make sure they work right.
  • •This rule is to make sure everyone uses fair and correct scales or tools.

Example

You buy a new kitchen scale online that comes in pieces and you have to put it together.

You can put the scale together at home, but before you use it to weigh anything, someone official has to check it and put a stamp on it to show it’s correct.
