§ 10515 Mineral Broker Licensing Rules

Oil, gas, and mineral brokers have to follow the same rules that apply to real estate brokers, but they don’t have to take the extra classes that other brokers need to keep their license.

Key Takeaways

  • •Oil, gas, and mineral brokers are covered by the same real‑estate broker rules listed in many sections of the law.
  • •They are not required to meet the continuing‑education requirements that other brokers need for license renewal.
  • •They still need a valid license and must act within the authority of the chapter.

Example

A gas broker helps a company sell drilling rights and must follow the licensing rules that a real‑estate agent follows.

The broker must obey the same licensing and conduct rules listed for real‑estate brokers, yet they can renew their license without completing the continuing‑education courses that other brokers must take.
