§ 9722 Long-Term Care Facility Access

Key Takeaways

  • •Special workers can go into nursing homes anytime to check on people and help them with problems.
  • •These workers can talk to residents alone and look around without anyone stopping them.
  • •Nursing homes must give them a list of all residents and their room numbers if asked.
  • •This law doesn’t stop other people from visiting or helping residents.

Example

If your grandma is in a nursing home and she’s not happy with the food, a special worker can come in, talk to her alone, and try to fix the problem.

The worker doesn’t need permission to enter or talk to residents. They can also ask the nursing home for a list of everyone living there to make sure everyone is okay.
