§ 9721 Complaint Referral Priorities

Key Takeaways

  • •If someone complains about a nursing home or care facility, the office can send the complaint to the right group to check it out.
  • •Some complaints, like if someone's health or safety is in danger right now, get checked first.
  • •The groups that check the complaints must tell the office what they found and if they punished the facility.

Example

If a family member complains that their grandma's nursing home is not giving her the right medicine, the office can send this complaint to the Medical Board of California.

The Medical Board will check the complaint and tell the office what they found and if they punished the nursing home.
