§ 5400 Behavioral Health Program Standards

Key Takeaways

  • •The Director of Health Care Services is in charge of making rules for mental health and alcoholism services.
  • •They must talk to other groups, like county health directors and the Attorney General, before making these rules.
  • •The rules should match similar rules from another law called the Bronzan-McCorquodale Act when possible.
  • •Rules for helping people with alcohol problems can be different from rules for mental health problems.

Example

If a county wants to set new rules for how they help people with alcohol addiction, they can't just do it on their own.

They have to work with the Director of Health Care Services and other groups to make sure the rules are fair and follow the law. The rules might be different from those for mental health help.
