§ 4830 Developmental Services Definitions

Key Takeaways

  • •The law wants services for people with disabilities to be connected and grow with them over time, like a chain that doesn’t break.
  • •Services should feel normal, like what most people do every day, so everyone can fit in and live like their neighbors.
  • •A special group, called a 'designated agency,' is in charge of making sure these services happen in each area.

Example

A kid with a disability goes to school, then gets a job, and later lives on their own.

The law says the help they get should connect smoothly, like school programs that teach job skills, then job coaching, then help finding a place to live—all feeling like normal life, not special or separate.
