§ 4640 Regional Center Service Contracts

Key Takeaways

  • •The law says regional centers must have clear contracts with the state about who they help and what services they provide.
  • •The state must make rules to decide who gets help based on their disability type and how serious it is.
  • •The state must listen to experts and people with disabilities when making these rules.

Example

A family wants help for their child who has autism.

The regional center checks the state’s rules to see if the child qualifies for services like therapy or special education. If the child fits the rules, the center must help them.
