§ 4636 Temporary Regional Center Operation

Key Takeaways

  • •The government can temporarily run a regional center if there's a gap between old and new management.
  • •They can only run it themselves for up to 120 days before a new group must take over.
  • •If the new group asks for help, the government can assist until the new group is fully in charge.

Example

Imagine a local community center loses its manager, and a new one isn't ready yet.

The government can step in and run the center for a short time (up to 120 days) to keep things running smoothly. If the new manager needs extra help, the government can assist until the new manager is fully in control.

§ 4636 Temporary Regional Center Operation

If necessary, to avoid disruption of the service program, the department may directly operate a regional center during the interim period between the termination of its contract with one governing board and the assumption of operating responsibility by a regional center contract with another governing board. In no event shall the department directly operate a regional center program for longer than 120 days before contracting with a new governing board. The department may, if requested by the new governing board, continue to provide additional assistance to avoid disruption of the service program, until such time as the governing board has assumed full responsibility for the operation of the program.
