§ 4449 State Hospital Oversight Rules

• •They can create new rules for how the hospital is run and how staff should do their jobs.
• •They must check on the hospital regularly to make sure everything is working well.

A state hospital has rules that say nurses must check on patients every hour.

The State Department of Developmental Services makes sure the hospital follows this rule. If they find out nurses are not checking on patients, they can make new rules or punish the hospital to fix the problem.
