§ 4349 Mental Health Grant Criteria

Key Takeaways

  • •The state gives money to programs that help kids early with mental health stuff.
  • •To get the money, the program must have experienced people who care about helping kids.
  • •The program must show it will last a long time and help all kinds of kids from different backgrounds.
  • •Schools and local mental health groups must support the program.
  • •The money is extra help, not the only money the program gets.

Example

A school wants to start a program to help little kids who are having a hard time with their feelings.

The school can ask the state for extra money to help pay for this program. But they need to show they have good teachers and helpers who know how to help kids. They also need to show that the program will keep running and that lots of different kids will get help. The school and local mental health groups must say they support the program too.
