§ 2019 Youth Shelter Funding Exemption

Key Takeaways

  • •Money for youth shelters for abused or neglected kids can be given out without following the usual priority rules.
  • •This means shelters can get help faster if they really need it.
  • •The rule has been around since 1989.

Example

A small town has a shelter for kids who are hurt or not taken care of at home. They need money to keep running.

Normally, they might have to wait their turn, but this law says they can get the money right away if they need it, even if other places were supposed to go first.
