§ 19805 Independent Living Funding Advances

Key Takeaways

  • •The Department of Rehabilitation can give money to independent living centers or other groups each month.
  • •The amount given each month cannot be more than 1/12 of the total yearly money set aside for that group.
  • •To get this monthly money, the group must follow the department's rules for keeping track of and reporting how they spend the money.

Example

A local independent living center helps people with disabilities live on their own. They get $120,000 a year from the Department of Rehabilitation.

The center can ask for up to $10,000 each month (which is 1/12 of $120,000) to help pay for their programs. But they have to show the department how they spend the money to keep getting it.
