§ 17501 County Counseling Contracting

Key Takeaways

  • •Counties can hire outside groups to help people with counseling and finding resources.
  • •These groups can offer help like phone counseling, guides to local services, and face-to-face support.
  • •They cannot give money directly to people who need help.
  • •Help should be given near places like job centers or other public offices.

Example

Someone loses their job and feels really stressed.

The county can hire a group to talk to this person on the phone, give them a list of places that can help with food or jobs, and even meet them near the job center to support them. But they can’t give this person cash.
