§ 1735 Juvenile Fine Payment Confinement

Key Takeaways

  • •If a person under 21 gets fined and can't pay, the court can reduce the fine or let them go without paying.
  • •If they still don't pay, the court can send them to a special place (not a regular jail) for a short time.
  • •The place they go must be approved by the Authority.

Example

A 20-year-old gets a fine for speeding but doesn't have the money to pay.

The court can lower the fine or even cancel it. If the person still doesn't pay, they might have to stay in a special place for young people for a little while instead of going to jail.
