§ 14051 Medically Needy Eligibility Criteria

Key Takeaways

  • •This law helps people who can't afford healthcare, like older folks, disabled people, kids in foster care, or pregnant women.
  • •It also helps families with kids under 21 or pregnant women if they don't have enough money for medical bills.
  • •The law will stop working on January 1, 2026, and will be completely gone by January 1, 2027.

Example

A single mom with two kids under 10 has a low-paying job and no health insurance. One of her kids gets sick and needs to see a doctor.

Because she doesn’t make enough money to pay for the doctor visit, this law helps her and her kids get the medical care they need without paying too much.
