§ 11271 Restricted Payment Definitions

This law explains special ways to give money to homeless people for housing and bills. It says the money can be paid directly to landlords or utility companies, or with a check that needs both the homeless person and the landlord to sign.

Key Takeaways

  • •Homeless assistance money can be paid directly to landlords or utility companies.
  • •Sometimes, the check needs both the homeless person and the landlord to sign it.
  • •This helps make sure the money is used for rent or bills, not something else.

Example

A person who is homeless gets help from the government to pay for rent.

Instead of giving the money directly to the person, the government might send a check to the landlord, or give a check that both the person and the landlord have to sign together.
