§ 11025 Income Verification For Aid

This law says the state can check tax records to make sure people getting welfare or public help are telling the truth about their money. It helps figure out if they really need the help and how much they should get.

Key Takeaways

  • •The state checks tax records to make sure people getting help aren’t lying about their money.
  • •If someone hides income, they could lose benefits or owe money.
  • •The law only works if the state gets money to do it in the budget.

Example

Someone applies for food stamps but doesn't report money they got from renting out a room.

The state can check their tax records to see if they’re hiding income. If they are, they might get less help or have to pay money back.
