§ 11007 Public Assistance Lien Exemptions

This law says that if the government helps you with money or pays for your hospital stay, they can't take your stuff or home to get that money back.

Key Takeaways

  • •If you get money or help from the government, they can't take your stuff to get their money back.
  • •This includes things like your car, clothes, or even your house.
  • •The rule applies to hospital bills paid by the county too, except for some families with kids.

Example

If you get sick and the county pays for your hospital stay, they can't take your car or house to make you pay them back later.

The law protects your things, like your car, clothes, or even your burial plot, from being taken just because the government helped you.
