§ 10229 Alternative Payment Program Reimbursement

This law says that programs paying for child care can get money back for the care itself plus extra costs to run the program. The extra costs can't be more than 17.5% of the total money given to the program.

Key Takeaways

  • •Programs can get money back for child care costs plus extra costs to run the program.
  • •The extra costs can't be more than 17.5% of the total money given.
  • •The extra costs include things like telling families about child development checks.

Example

A daycare gets $10,000 from the government to take care of kids.

The program can also get up to $1,750 extra to pay for things like telling parents about child development checks, but they can't spend more than that on these extra costs.

How to Calculate

Administrative Costs ≤ 17.5% of Total Contract Amount

  1. Find the total amount of money given to the child care program (let's call this the 'Total Contract Amount').
  2. Multiply the Total Contract Amount by 0.175 (which is the same as 17.5%).
  3. The result is the maximum amount that can be spent on extra costs like running the program and sharing info about child development checks.

A child care program receives $50,000.

Result: $50,000 * 0.175 = $8,750 (This is the most they can spend on extra costs.)
