§ 9120 Flood Control System Reports

Key Takeaways

  • •The state must check levees (big walls that hold back water) to make sure they are safe.
  • •They have to write a report about how strong the levees are and if they might break.
  • •The report must say what needs to be fixed and what work should be done next.
  • •The state had to tell the government their plan for doing this by the end of 2008.

Example

Imagine a big river near a town with a levee to stop floods.

The state checks the levee to see if it’s weak or might break. If it’s not safe, they write a report saying it needs to be fixed so the town doesn’t flood.
