§ 8828 Assessment Modification Threshold

• •If the total amount of an assessment changes by less than 2.5%, it's not considered a big change.
• •If the change is small (less than 2.5%), they don't have to re-divide or re-calculate how the assessment is shared.
• •Only big changes (more than 2.5%) need a new plan for how the assessment is split.

Imagine your neighborhood has to pay $10,000 total for new streetlights. The city checks the bill and sees it’s now $10,200.

The change is only $200, which is 2% of $10,000. Since 2% is less than 2.5%, the city doesn’t have to re-calculate how much each house pays.
