§ 8766 Assessment Abandonment Authority

Key Takeaways

  • •The board can cancel or reduce a fee they charged you if they realize they asked for too much money.
  • •They can only do this before the fee becomes a legal debt you must pay.
  • •They will only cancel the extra part, not the whole fee if some of it is still needed.

Example

The board charged you $100 for a community project, but later found out the project only cost $70.

The board can decide to lower your fee to $70 before it becomes a debt you legally have to pay.
