§ 8622 Emergency Flood Project Construction

Key Takeaways

  • •The government can quickly fix parts of flood control projects if they were damaged in the 1955-56 floods.
  • •They can use money meant for buying land or rights for these quick fixes.
  • •This is only for urgent repairs, not new projects.

Example

A river dam was broken during the big floods in 1955-56 and needs to be fixed fast to stop more flooding.

The government can use money set aside for buying land to fix the dam right away instead of waiting.
